I will give this a whirl, not sure I can keep up with all of you.
jheyer said:
So glad Lynn! It is so fun! Think of all the different works of art we will have to play with!!
KnitterPam said:
Oh Lynn - I have seen your gorgeous work, no worries. I will tell you, it's easy once you get started. I was worried, but I did made two while dinner was cooking the other night! Just keep lots of post-its, masking paper and stamps around. I did mine on an 8x8, but some people are doing a full 8.5x11. Maybe I'll do another larger one.
Hasmom99 said:
Thank you for words of encouragement. I will give it a try.
jheyer said:
YOU CAN DO IT!
dianelynn said:
Thanks for hosting Julie! Do you have a preference on size? My scanner only does 8.5x11, but I could also do 8x8 or 6x6?
jheyer said:
Hi Diane, Most folks are doing 8.5 x 11 since so many of us don't have large scanners. So I would say the larger the better. That way we get a good crisp image. Thanks for joining us!
MsScarlett said:
Thanks for this challenge, Julie. I'll give this a try on 8.5x11. Thanks for the push!
jheyer said:
Daphne! Thanks for coming along for the ride! You will love it!!
AnnetteD said:
Julie - I am making some of these at the moment. Not sure if they will email direct so will send them on to you via Yousendit.
jheyer said:
HI Annette, I meant to revise this, if any digi members want to do this swap they can feel free to make a digi collage like the one you made!
And if you want to go ahead and send me a PDF version or whatever works best for you that would be great.
Thanks!
scrappin5150 said:
I'll give it a try!
jheyer said:
Great Lisa, so glad you are joining us!
sharethebeach said:
OK, I'll try this but I have no clue if I can get the pc stuff right......my back -up could be Cheryl Mixon ! Would these samples be in the gallery??
cheryl mixon said:
Carmen,
I'll be glad to help you out...is there a crop around that we can meet up and play before this is due?
RonP317 said:
Love this idea! I did a digi one - it was lots of fun!!!!

aprilpzzl said:
WOW, wonderful to have so many participants!
ncscrapcat said:
I'm in! I did one collage today. Not thrilled with it, so I hope to try my hand at another one and get it to you in time for the swapping. What format should we be sending you? When I scanned my 8.5 x 11 sheet, my scanner wouldn't save it as a JPEG, so I went with a .bmp. And I don't know what the DPI is. I'll try to figure that out next.
Norma
sharethebeach said:
Cheryl, I think I have the collage part down.....it's the scanning and sending and 300 dpi I'm not sure about.
jheyer said:
Hi all, DPI is Dots per inch. In other words how many little dots make up the image per inch.
It makes for a clearer image when printing and won't look grainy. Hope that helps.
scrappin5150 said:
OMG! I had soooo much fun making this! Sending it your way Julie via yousendit.
jheyer said:
I am really looking forward to seeing it Lisa!

jheyer said:
WOW, seriously guys, these are just all so different and cool, everyone is going to be so happy with the tremendous variety of artwork!!
Hasmom99 said:
Mine is done! I am emailing it shortly. I tried to upload it to the gallery so I could share, but got an error message that it was too big. I may try again, but I want to send the higher resolution one to Julie. I used travel themed stamps but mostly from older kits like Journey (2003) and my favorite stamp, the feather from Poetic. I want to try another with flowers. I started to do that tonight, but messed it up. I need to re-think that one. Lynn
janierangerette said:
I'll start working on mine tomorrow! This is just the excuse I need to make room on my table for the scanner and keep it up and running! Janie
jheyer said:
Thanks everyone and I received your Collage Lynn!

jheyer said:
Hi all, I just want to make sure that everyone is all set with the size your images should be scanned at. I set my DPI setting when I scanned to the largest my computer would go. So in other words you will get the crisp most printable image possible.
I received one from Janie the other day, however the email wasn't working correctly. So Janie, would you please make sure to let me know if you got my email? Thanks, and you will need to resend the image at full resolution and highest quality. Thanks so much.
cathyjgray said:
I have one in the process of being sent to you- I used Orient Express, a favorite kit of mine.
jheyer said:
I just got it Cathy, way to go!
gabyespinosa said:
Giving it a try, doing it digi as that seems faster! I usually don't swap because I'm a serious procrastinator and don't want to commit but I'm almost half done with this one! So I'm sure I'll get it in on time! Pretty excited about it!
jheyer said:

Julie I just sent mine over to you. Thanks for hosting! I have to say that you really have to trust the process. As I was making it, I had a small corner completed and I was not feeling it. But then, when it was done. o.m.g. I love it. I can totally see me making more of these.
~Diane
dianelynn said:
Oh I also wanted to mention, that mine is coming to you as a PDF. When you print it select "actual size" (the default is "fit") othewise you'll have a 1/4 inch border around all the edges.
~Diane
jheyer said:
Yes Diane, that happened to me too.
Thanks to everyone who has sent them so far, as soon as I receive them all I will compose the ZIP file and you will all get the lot!
Diane you are now added to the list!

I did a digi one last night - I will try to remember to send it tonight Julie. I hope to do a paper and stamp one over the weekend!! Carolyn
myauntkat said:
Hi everyone. I first have to say that I LOVED this swap idea. I was a little intimidated at first, but once I got started really had a blast. I made 4 collages - Raku/Collections, Time and Print, Sewing and Travel. I used mostly CS stamps but used a couple of Holtz stamps based on the theme. Julie and I discussed asking the group if you were ok with that. If not, it is perfectly ok. If so, you will get all of the collages. Just wanted to toss that out for your input. Kat
cathyjgray said:
I want it all
dianelynn said:
Seriously Kat??? that's awesome! send them all!
Hasmom99 said:
I'm good with a collage with a few non-CS stamps in the mix. They all sound amazing.
janierangerette said:
I would love to have some with TH on them too! Julie, thanks again for doing this swap! I'm so excited to see them all!
jheyer said:
Yeah! Thanks so much for the input everyone! Kat did an amazing job on all of them!!
mhpetty said:
Well, I was 17 hours late. But I uploaded one in the Gallery in case anyone's interested. Going to use it for B-Day cards.
jheyer said:
Marsha, we will be happy to let you join in the fun.
To those who have hosted swaps before (this is my first time ever) is it okay to let others come in that haven't officially signed up?
I certainly feel the more the merrier.
dianelynn said:
Julie for lots of swaps, it's just not practical to allow late comers. But with this particular one, being primarily digi'ish (as opposed to snail mail) I think it's fine to let people join in. The only thing you'd have to be firm on is the end date. Sign up date and end date can even be the same. Then whatever you have in your email the day after the end day is what you'd swap out to everyone. I agree - the more the merrier!
~Diane
jheyer said:
The only problem with that is, if everyone that officially signed up sends them to me before the end date, I can send them out right away and people can play with them. I am sure everyone would rather have them sooner than later, am I right?
If I leave it open until the end date, then we won't be able to send them out until Feb 15th.
Let me know what everyone's thinking.
myauntkat said:
My personal 2 cents but what is easiest for you is best. If you send early, then get late comers and then have to remember who you sent what to, that is way too much work. I would stick to the deadline and then send all of them at once so that you know what you sent and can check it off the list. With this many digi files, you will run up against a mail size issue and will have to send multiple emails anyway to get all the files to everyone. Kat
ncscrapcat said:
Much as I'm dying to get my hands on all these gorgeous collages to play with, I'm sure that whenever you send them out I won't really start doing anything with them immediately. So I don't care if you wait until the 14th or 15th to send them out. The more collages, the better as far as I'm concerned. Since you put Feb. 14th as the mail by date, I wouldn't have expected to see them earlier than that anyway.
Hasmom99 said:
I agree with Diane. Let folks get them to you by the 13th or 14th and you can return them to everyone after that. Since the "mail by" date was the 14th, I did not expect to get them before the end of that week at the earliest. Do what is most inclusive but least stressful for you. Lynn
aprilpzzl said:
Julie,
It doesn't matter when I get them. Do what is easiest for you!
You are so appreciated for coordinating this swap. Wonderful works, Friends.
jheyer said:
Thanks so much for all the input. I guess I will go ahead and change the join send by date to the same date that way I will be able to keep better track of who is getting collages.
Thanks again.
mhpetty said:
Thanks Julie! And AFTER the deadline, there's nothing stopping any of the rest of us from sharing with others, is there? No copyright infringement anywhere! But my thought it, I hope Julie doesn't end up with much work after it's over. This digital swap is really a first!
jheyer said:
I don't think so? as far as copyright infringement goes? And anyone can open up another swap after this one is over too and do their own, right?
This has been a lot of fun and I just made a mini collage for cards, fun stuff!
scampbell said:
Julie,
Just emailed mine to you. Let me know if I did something wrong. This is the first time I've ever scanned and emailed something. Hope I did it right. If not, let me know what you need from me. Thanks for hosting this swap. Such a cool idea.

This is the first time I've done this, how exactly do we use these?? Print onto card stock/ paper ??
jheyer said:
Hi Carmen,
The original idea was to print out these black and white images and then ink them up in multiple colors of our choosing once we have all the artwork.
If you look at our thread here about the collage challenge you can get some ideas of how these are used.
http://www.clubscrapcommunity.com/forum/index.php?f=10&t=17941&rb_v=viewtopic
jheyer said:
And yes, most of us used 8.5 x 11 paper so that we could easily print our b&w images on regular cardstock or even printer paper.
I have found some cheap sticker paper packs at staples and they work great for inking.
CatherineD said:
Hey Julie and fellow swappers,
Not sure if I am the only one missing, but I am currently at Rachel's swim team practice and will get my page scanned and emailed when I get home.
Just didn't want you to think I had forgotten. Thx for being patient!

Well, Swappers, looks like I won't be able to finish this one. I am having a bit of Rotator Cuff problems and am participating in the PSL, too. PT today and a dinner date with my hubby have just about worn me out tonight. Hope to catch another interesting swap at a later time. Enjoy!
CatherineD said:
Sorry you can't participate this time MsScarlett, but I'd love to do this again.
Just mailed mine to Julie and I was definitely learning as I went. I wish I had done a couple before choosing the best one to send!
Can't wait to see what everyone did!
Thanks, Julie!
CatherineD
jheyer said:
Thanks for letting us know Daphne and so sorry to hear about your Rotator cuff issues. Been there done that!
I am going to be working on getting this all together today and by the end of today be looking for an email from me.
I have decided to change my game plan as far as how to get your images to you all. I will be sending everyone a link to a site with instructions on how to download your files. It will be one large file to download so don't be surprised if it takes a little while. Also the site I chose does not require any sign ups. Yippee!
Thanks again to all the swappers for joining in the fun!
