I know Thanksgiving is a little far off - but I was extra grateful during my nice, long walk with my puppy Harry last night. Of course by walk I mean him stopping every three seconds to either sniff something, eat an ant, or chase a blowing leaf . . . but I digress. I took a few pictures and wanted to share just a couple of the reasons why I love autumn so much.
1) Crisp, clean air mixed with the smell of freshly mowed grass. I love this beginning part of fall when it's still necessary to mow the lawn, and the breeze carries that yummy smell along with the newly fallen leaves. Heaven.
2) And speaking of leaves - this is not a paid endorsement, but I am absolutely obsessed with the Slatkin & Co. Leaves Candle from Bath & Body Works. I have three of them in my house right now and they make me a very, very happy girl.
3) Hot air balloons. I realize this is not what most people think of when autumn is mentioned, but let me explain. There's a giant field right next to my house where professional hot-air-ballooners (that's what I call them) gather and take off, so they end up right above our houses and treetops. They seem to be floating overhead more often in the fall and it feels like you're in a fairy tale.
4) Mums. I have a little bit of a problem. After Labor Day I can't seem to stop buying mums. I love them so much. They are so cheery and I bought a ton of them with a batch of pumpkins a few weeks ago. I smile everytime I drive up to my house. This is the front porch - but it does not end there.
5) Gords. We have a great Farmer's Market downtown and they were selling these cute little gords and mini pumpkins for 25¢. Needless to say - I loaded up. I love them in little bowls like this.
6) And last but not least, Harry. He's the perfect fall puppy with his curly, caramel colored hair. :) [He does not have a lazy eye although it kind of looks that way in this picture. He must have been winking at me].
Find a few things that you're thankful for today - and Happy Fall!

. The mums are so pretty. I tend to forget to water them, so Paul stopped buying them for me. Yours look great!
. She loved fall and those crisp crunchy leaf walks. Enjoy!
