OH MY, Christmas Is Coming

Posted by: Shona in myblogFunFamily on

I know, I know, it is only June.  But I have found out if I do not start thinking about Christmas crafts, cards, and gifts now, then they will not get done.   Last year not only did I not get cards made, I failed to even buy them.  That is a problem.

I did manage to get some gifts made.  I lifted Kay's little box.  Loved that idea.  I took a little different take on a few of them.  But I

After reading Donna Lee's and JulieH's posts about creating their own stamped and colored papers, similar to the collections Kay Williamson created for a retreat a few years ago, my mind was buzzing with ideas. Then, yesterday afternoon while reading a Scrap-n-Stamp Arts magazine during my kiddos' taekwondo practice, I read an article entitle The Frugal Crafter. It showcased ideas on how to make

Going Green...

Well,  as of late there has been so much emphasis put on being "green" and repurposing things that we would normally throw in the trash.  Well I bought Velveeta the other day for my family because they wanted really good creamy Mac and Cheese and let's face it,   Velveeta is the way to go.    So when I went to throw away the box,  I thought,  hmmm,  this bottom piece is pretty sturdy,  I bet I

Tricia, that is the coolest deal!  I tried out the Scholarship ALCM instructions (found in the Free ALSB section) using a Club Stamp paper pack.  I wanted to make some holiday cards, so I found some Haberdashery Cst paper I bought on sale earlier this year - I  think I may have paid all of $2.00 for this paper pack.  Seriously.  TWELVE cards for $2.00.  The mind boggles.

Anyway, I substituted

Holiday Workshop Cards

I made these cards for a recent FFC workshop I taught.  We made 3 puzzler cards using the Peace on Earth stamp.  I admit, I cheated.  I taught them how to cut the pieces, adhere them to the carpet tape, and then we stamped on top with India ink. It looks very nice and I didn't have to worry about the image lining up.

The Noel and Joy cards were made by spritzing water on a WM stamp (a stencil

My Halloween pizza box for my glass front door.

A few  of you asked to see my pizza box! lol   Here it is .  It goes on the inside of my glass front door as a decoration.  I'm planning on making one for Thanksgiving soon.    It so great getting to use supplies I've had for years and wouldn't use on a scrapbook page or card.   Fun, yes but not my style.

Like everyone else who writes here, I love paper a lot!  I love to make it, too, and then make special things with the hand-made paper.  Once I made a huge round piece of paper, dyed it a bit reddish pink, let it dry.  Then I carved a linoleum block of a cat, inked it with black ink and used the round piece of paper onto which I printed the black cat.  I've framed it and still have hung it.  I

Pushing My Digital Envelope

I love trying new things. Many of you know that I only started making traditional scrapbook pages a year ago during PSL and digital pages in May of last year (even though I had been making cards and 'projects' for many years before that).

I love trying new techniques with paper, and the same is true for digital. So when the new Simply Avant Digital Collection was released, I knew I had to try
