To be honest, my Card Workshop a week ago didn't go very well. 5 came, 3 of whom were brand new to papercrafting. I'm afraid I overwhelmed them with too much to do - too many instructions, too many techniques, too many choices. It would have been different if all were experienced card-makers. I realize now how important it is to consider the guests's experience level when planning a WS. So much work, too, preparing for a Card Workshop compared to an ALSB WS.
I'm not sure how to find new people - can't count on the same ones to come to every workshop. My next one, an ALSB is scheduled 3 weeks from now. I know two are coming, but the others can't. So I really need to find new folks!
Some good news! I do have two willing hostesses! But both are over five hours away! One is my sister, and it will be fun to go visit her and do a WS for her and some friends and family members.

... Hi Marsha, We just need to keep plugging away don't we! One thing Sandra and I talked about at the call the other night was my frustration with finding people who are seriously interested in this! So one thing that she suggested and I had really been thinking about too, was to attend crops at local stores or maybe find one in your area thru a meet up sight. What we need to do is go to where the crafters and scrappers are. We need to bring our pizza boxes and open up on the table and go to work ALSBing in front of people and you know what they are going to wonder where we got all the cool stuff! They will be the ones who will appreciate it! We need to find folks that are into it like we all are! |

... Good thinking, Julie! That's what Dottie Ferguson does. You might want to give her a call or email - there's also a recording in the Pantry where she explains her methods. After doing a few workshops, you guys will hit your stride and it will get easier to "read" your groups and plan projects. As for crops - the craft stores hold them fairly regularly, check Meetup.com for crops in your area, and if all else fails, start holding your own open crop. When people bring their own stuff, but see you guys doing your pizza boxes, they will be intrigued! Keep up the good work! |
