tricia said i could blog about the fall retreats, but that i could only speak in riddles.
fall is my favorite time of the year. but that doesn't even matter. the retreats are held indoors. and if retreaters really think they are going to have time to sight see...well, i'd like to know if they plan on going 3 days without sleep.
even jack bauer calls it quits after 24 hours.
oh wait. i'm crackin' myself up.
here's a visual to set the mood.
so. it was about a week ago. tricia, kay and i, in the design room. door closed. the door had to be closed because of all the squealing going on. some small screams. a load of gasping and clapping. a bucket full of 'ohhh whoaaaaaa' surrounded by giggling.
sentences started with the words 'if i was an attendee...', 'wouldn't it be cool if' and 'what about....'.
that's when tricia touched the pencil to the tip of her tongue in a rather grand gesture and began jotting. and jotting.
and jotting.
and jotting.
the next day, there were spreadsheets.
once there are spreadsheets...there's no turning back.
are you with me? (to quote dinah)
if you've never been to a Club Scrap Retreat, let me walk you thru. if you're a repeater, feel free to add......
so here's what's gonna happen. we're gonna start at the beginning, go on til the end and then stop. but in the middle we are gonna party like rock stars. kick up our heels. jump for joy, and take it up a notch. we're gonna light the afterburners and shoot for the moon, out of this world.
and bring your babysitting money because...things will be sold like they are going out of style, stuff will sell like hotcakes, it'll fly off the shelves (at you, into your bag) and everything, i mean everything will try to make its way into your shopping bag. (so you better 'get a handle on it'!!! hahahahah)
the classes, omg, let me tell you, it'll be a total give and take, many hands make for light work. and the other hand, you'll probably be as busy as bear in a bee hive. after all, all's fair in love and art.
i've heard lightning never strikes twice. that's correct. plan on it hitting around 8 or more times.
you'll go home stuffed to the gills, dog tired, happy as a clam, and lighter than air. (that's a lie, your suitcase... that'll be like stuffing 10 lbs into a 5lb sack)
and, unfortunately the weekend will fly by like greased lightning. bring a camera.
alrighty, i think that covers everything.
and here's the link you'll need if you are, right at this moment, thinking to yourself.....'this is one opportunity i cannot pass up'....
thanks for reading.

... yep, that about sums it up, zwick. after retreat, we're hungover from over-indulging in good art. we reek of art when we leave. that's why people look at you funny in the airport. they smell the all-night art party, the chocolate, they see your inky fingers, your glue-y jeans (where you wiped your hands) and that silly-*ss smile on your face from meeting all your online friends live and in-person... |

... yep the retreat planning process is very exciting with all the sweet anticipation, and there's that tickle belly feeling we get when seeing our thoughts and ideas nailed down on a speadsheet. Then comes the anticipation of wanting to share your project and getting to see and learn what other Club Scrap members are creating. I really don't know what the best part of retreat is? ......the classes, getting your hands dirty and diggin' into some project that you might not normally do, all the food, being inspired, having the time to connect with online friends, making new friends that have the same interests and hobbies as you do, I don't know, maybe it's the combo of all those things, but what a great combo it is. Looking forward to it!! |

... I'll be there in August (is that "fall"?) and I know it'll be amazing! I do know what the best part of retreat is -- it's the current moment, no matter what's going on, it's fantastic! I don't know how you manage to come up with brand new ideas every year but you do and you do it so well. FUN, FUN, FUN!!! |
