The Olympics have been on the TV at my house every night since opening ceremonies. Wanting to be near my family and all of the Olympic action, I decided to create some Whirligig cards on the table in front of the couch rather than in my overstuffed craft room.
I brought up my trimmer, a binder of stamps, ink, my ALCM Idea Deck, adhesive, Scor-it Board and a few other odds and ends. (Sticking with the one-trip up and down the stairs rule, right?) I used a total of three formulas and cranked out some REALLY fun cards. What's nifty about this paper and tag collection is that the raised and non-raised printing is already done. If I cut and assemble the papers into cards, the work is basically complete.
Before I finally get to the cards, I'd like to show you how COOL the die cut tags are! They produce awesome "resist results"!
There are two types of ink pre-printed on the tags...pearlized thermal (embossed/raised) and varnish. Each ink provides a unique resist property. Firmly rub the ink directly from the pad onto the tag in a circular motion.
Hold the inked tag with one corner of a paper towel and rub the excess ink away with the other. Look at how the colors re-appear! The varnish is around the perimeter of the tag, and the raised ink exposes the blue cardstock underneath.
Add a paper clip to the tag and attach to your card. Cool!
Well, here are the cards. And...the first person to correctly identify the ALCM idea deck formulas used in the cards by writing it in the Comments section below will win a prize!!!!
Whirligig Retro: (Double Batch of the Formula with four colors and slightly modified...scrap used.)

Whirligig Oceanic:

Whirligig Spring Fling: (Formula slightly modified.)

Sorry for the longest blog in the history of mankind. And Michael Strong...you're pretty awesome.

... Oooh I hadn't even realized they came with ALSB instructions. I just followed me order link and the instructions do expect that you have both the 12x12 and 8.5x11 in matching color schemes... and of course I bought different sets for each! Ah well I can mix and match with solids that I already own But if you want to do the ALSB as given you'll want both the 12x12 and 8.5x11 in the same color scheme and it makes 10 pages... at least for Retro and Oceanic! |
