What's that tiny bit of white stuff?

Bay in TN

Ten years.

Actually, it's more like 12 years.

The last real snow I remember experiencing in my part of East Tennessee was in February of 1996. I am pretending that we had more snow since then, which is why I said ten or twelve years. I'm really not sure. But we do not get real snow here any more, and we haven't had snow in so long that I can complain about it pretty much non-stop from October until March.

(I do not understand why I have to endure cold weather if it doesn't come attached to snow.)

(I just don't.)

Anyway, we have had this terrible, long frigid snap. Frigid for us in our part of the world is 21 degrees. One morning the temp was actually 6. Six! I know! Crazy stuff! And I now have a dog who must be walked six times a day, and so I was outside IN THAT FRIGID SIX-DEGREE WEATHER, so I know what it was like -- FIRSTHAND!

Ahem. Pardon my shouting.

The one good thing about the cold weather is that maybe it'll kill some insects before they hatch this summer. Skeeters. Fleas. Ticks. Fire ants. Yep, that would be cool, and insect control is the one advantage to non-snowy cold weather that I can think of.

So to get back to the point, we had all this cold weather that froze the top two inches of the earth, and today some clouds gathered up and started snowing.

But of course, it waited to start spitting flakes until after the temperature had raised ABOVE freezing. 36 degrees Fahrenheit, to be exact.

All that snow, and it has no place to accumulate. It just turns into water when it comes in contact with the earth.

Oh, sure it's pretty falling out of the sky, but without the white blanket effect, what's the point? I mean, really? What's the POINT????

I'm gonna go keep playing with cards. Hmph. I'll keep the blinds open so I can watch the snow falling... and melting. And I won't hold my breath. I don't want to pass out on freshly stamped ink images. I could have a phone stamped to my forehead and no quarter to make a call.

It's snowing in Middle TN too, Bay! Enough for the girls to go outside, catch a few on their jackets and see how cool snowflakes are, and then we made itty bitty snowballs with the bit that fell on the slide. It's good snowball snow, even if it's a small amount...

Another comment from the snowy confines of Wisconsin! When we run out of places to put the snow here in SE WI, mountains of it are carted to parking lots. There is gets covered with dirt, dust, etc. and while it dwindles, it may still be there in June (I won't go into the science lesson of why). I kid you not! Then again, in 1990, we had a snow storm on May 10!
