Hi folks! 10 months and counting until the big day . . . and still lots of details to figure out.
I thought the hair would be a nice, easy thing to pick out. . . boy was I wrong. Did I mention how indecisive I am?
And then I had a revelation! I have an amazing stylist and friend named Destiny (she's the cutest in the world) who has been cutting my hair for years, so my official decision is to hand her a pile of pictures that I like and let her make the choice - so there! I can check that right off the list. :) Done and done.
Here are some of the styles I've come across that I like, I'd love to hear your thoughts:
This one if my favorite so far. I'm not a fan of big, poofy updos - or of the hair that's pulled back really tight, but I do need it to be up because I get very, very hot and sweaty in the summertime. I do not glow - I sweat.
I love this first one. I think it's so effortless and pretty.
This one is similar, but a little tighter. Depending on how my hair is behaving, I may have to reign it in a little more like this. I still like how it looks a little messy and not too 'styled'.
I really like this low bun style too. Really simple and pretty. And totally off my neck, which is key.
And then there's this one. I know it's really casual, and not all the way up - but I'm still really drawn to the pretty braids for some reason. Maybe for the rehearsal dinner. Yeah. That's a great idea. I'll check that off the list, too :)
Thanks so much for looking and I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Happy Autumn Tuesday. Go get yourself a Pumpkin Spice Latte. You won't regret it. Pay no attention to the fat or carb content. Just go get one. :)

... For probably about six months before my wedding, I would "try on" a hairstyle everytime I got my hair cut. My regular stylist did my hair, too. By trying on some styles and actually walking around with it styled, I got a better idea of what drove me nuts and what I loved. I would highly recommend doing that - the pictures all look gorgeous, but sometimes it feels different when it's on your head. I thought I always wanted an up-do, and I ended up with my hair down. Your hair style will also affect what kind of veil you're wearing (if you're wearing one). |

... Hi Nikki, I have always been on the side of wearing your hair on the wedding day as you would normally wear your hair every day. I understand it is a special day, but I also think wearing your hair a totally different way takes away from who you really are! So with that said, if you are always wearing your hair up then do that on your special day. But if you always tend to have it down then that is what you should do. JMHO. If I were to chose one of the styles, then it would have to be the first one, as the photo kind of reminds me of you. |

... I love the 1st one too. The good part about the "messy" look is if your day is windy or a hair falls out of place, it looks like you meant it. And Deb, that is a GREAT idea to try the styles out ahead of time. You can also decide if your stylist is doing things the way you want long before it's crucial to find someone else. |

... I agree that you should definitely try them all out before your wedding so you know which style you like. I speak from experience... I hate my wedding photos hair! I'm a short hair person, but I promised DH I'd grow it out while we were engaged and I had no clue what to do with it the morning of our wedding. SIL helped me style it, but she styled it like she does her own hair... totally different from mine. There's nothing really wrong with the photos, if I pretend they are someone else and not me, but it just doesn't look like ME inthose pictures. If I had a time machine to do it over again I'd have it gotten it trimmed up a bit (regardless of what DH wanted) and style it the way I would style it. You don't want to look at your wedding pictures 15 years later and still hate your hair! |
