Now, I wasn't aware of this . . . but the moment you get engaged there are a few things that happen that you don't really see coming. Well, I certainly didn't.
#1: You are suddenly very aware of how terribly, horribly gross your nails are because everyone is grabbing at your hands all the time. You want to run and get a manicure every day even though you've never had more than 3 manicures in your entire life. #2: It's hard to stop smiling because everyone is so nice and saying 'congratulations' all of the time. It's really a very special feeling. #3: Everyone. And I mean everyone you talk to says this, "Congratulations! I'm so happy for you! Do you have a date?". #4: I did not have a date for quite some time - but now that I do, and have a quick response - the inevitable next question has been, "What about the dress? Do you have a dress?". I'm so excited about this new development! I'd much rather talk about dresses than dates!
So here's the thing . . . I'll be honest with you . . . I have pretty much decided on a dress, but, I don't want to share that with the whole world quite yet - so I'm going to share a few dresses (including the one I've decided on), and you tell me what you think! Oh, you may want to know that I'm 90% sure that my ceremony is going to be outdoors in a gardenish-type setting.
I can't wait to hear what you have to say . . . this is the fun part!
Have a great weekend everyone, stay cool!

... 4, hands down. 2 is out, 1 will draw too much attention to the bottom, people looking and trying to figure out what it is. 3 is pretty, I might do some tweaking to the shoulder thing, but the flow of the skirt would look nice in a garden, but not as good as 4. How's that for an honest opinion? LOL! Have fun and thanks for sharing the fun with us. |

... #1 I can totally see for an afternoon into evening venue in a garden setting. Gorgeous. #2 Is very tightly fitted and a sweetheart neckline is very hard to pull off. Also that is a bit dressier and clingy for out of door use, but beautiful. #3. I love this one, because it draws the eye in a vertical line, and the drape is beautiful and flowy-perfect for a garden venue. 4. this is a favorite for all, but I was thinking the lace would be stiffer and not as flowy as #3. THis looks fine, but overall #3 would be better. My choices in order would be #1, #3, #2, and #4. |

... It's been fun reading everyone's comments! Here are my thoughts--from a former dressmaker. #1 is just not pretty. Not sure what the skirt fabric is, but it's not elegant. As others have mentioned, #2 would be hard to dance in. And if you gain a pound between the final fitting and the wedding, it will be uncomfortable--and if you lose a few pounds, it won't fit right. #3 is too simple. A wedding dress should be striking. This one is pretty, but just too simple. #4 is elegant and would look beautiful on you. You could have straps added if you like--they could have the same trim work as the waist. Or you could have a lace wrap made if the wedding or reception will be in the evening. We'd all LOVE to know which is YOUR favorite, Nikki! |

... #4, because it's a garden wedding....and has that casual, but elegant look I like #3 for the same reason, but it looks a little TOO casual, more for a beach setting...reminds me of an elegant nightgown #2 just looks too formal and reminds me of the 20's/30's--it's less contemporary #1 would wear you, not the other way around Good luck with your choice! |

... At first glance I thought #1 to be my first choice, but thinking about it , I think there is too much going on in the skirt which would take away from you. I love #2 but not so much for a garden wedding. #3, well Pam said it all, it looks like a night gown, but not even a great one at that. So #4 is my first choice. It will show off your figure and has just enough of the princess about it. Yep, #4 is my choice then #2. |
