Top 9 Uses for the Drop Spine Box!

As many of you may have noticed, we have a new product category in the GHM! Dept. called the "Premade Boutique". (In case you didn't notice, you MIGHT want to go check it out!)

There are some really cool premade pages and projects available, many of them one-of-a-kind, and the inventory is constantly changing. However, several premade versions of one of my favorite projects EVER, the Drop Spine Box, have been in there since day one of the Premade Boutique. I feel so bad that these beautiful, yet apparently misunderstood projects are just languishing there, that I HAD to step in and do something about it. (LOL.)

So, without further ado, here is my list of  "Top 9 Uses for the Drop Spine Box" (PSST...it's all about attractive storage):

1. Gifts...why hand over that well-chosen gift in an ordinary gift sack when you can deliver it in style! It's the gift container that is a gift in itself...so cool!

2. Spa in a box

 3. Meal in a box

4. Greetings in a box...Unfortunately, since I gave it away already last Christmas (and didn't think to take a pic at the time, darn it!), I can't SHOW you...but I can TELL you...I made up about 2 dozen assorted greeting cards, with envelopes, to give as a gift to someone who appreciates a good handmade card, but simply doesn't have the time to make them herself. I ended up presenting the cards to her in a drop spine box. Now she has a stash of awesome cards ready to send, AND a clever and attractive place to store them.

5. Keepsake storage...I don't know about you, but I tend to collect a LOT of stuff. Stuff from travels, stuff from special occasions...and where to keep it? Why in a drop spine box, of course!

6. Autograph Book holder...when I took my kids to Disney World for the first time in 2009, I wanted to make the trip as special as possible. Someone suggested that a great way to keep the kids interested/busy AND made a great keepsake of the trip was a Disney Character Autograph Book! Being the papercrafter I am, I HAD to make my own, and the drop spine box was the perfectly stylish place to keep those momentos safe!

7. Baby Keepsake Box...although I don't have one myself, I can totally picture baby's first shoes or booties, a silver spoon, lock of hair, bibs, etc., stored in one of these drop spine boxes...they're the perfect size for those baby things that you just can't bear to part with!

8. Swap Card storage...I've had the extreme priviledge of participating in a few swaps through the CS community, and I needed a cool place to store the swap cards that was accessible enough to pull out and browse for inspiration. Here's a pic of the Paisley box I store my swap cards in:

9. Jewelry Box...I admit it...hanging out with crafty people all day has its rewards (and curses!) My good friend Kay's fondness for beads and jewelry-making has definitely rubbed off on me, and as a result, I've gathered quite the collection of handmade necklaces and bracelets. My OTHER Paisley drop spine box makes a great home for these treasures!

Okay...so I didn't quite make it to a "Top 10" list, but I bet with this bit of inspiration, YOU can come up with some great ideas for these awesome boxes of your own!

I would love to see CS stock the larger size boxes (as a kit, not a finished item, cuz I love to make 'em myself!) from Retreat 2006 (?) - they are great for holding mementos and treasured cards as well.
