The Leaves, they are a Changin'

Nobody has ever accused me of being early (or even on time, for that matter). I had these pics in my stash for a few weeks now . . . right about the time it was seasonally appropriate — as in lots of colorful fall leaves?

Well, I've procrastinated long enough to have parked myself in front of our first blizzard of the year . . . snowy, blustering winds, single digit temps . . . anyone in a warmer clime willing to pack me up and move me in? I don't eat much and I will do windows. Not toilets though. I hate cleaning the toilets.

Anyhoo . . . to the point . . . and bear with me 'cause there really is a connection to our current reality here. Many years ago, we designed some lovely leaf stamps. Now what was that for? Retreat? Maybe, not sure cause I'm old and can't remember anything anymore.

One day long ago, my passion for home decorating kicked in. I got a wild hair (that's my mom's infamous quote) about  making a piece of art for my wall. Leaf art. So I set up camp on the ping-pong table in the basement and played with those sweet little leaf stamps for hours . . . inks, tools, powders, gizmos and gadgets . . . it was a glorious day! Here's what happened:

Leaf Stamp Wall Art

The three little leaf guys on the left are very saturated at the outter edges with copper, brown and green inks. Then I copper embossed the leaves in the center — you can actually see the embossing glimmer on an enlarged view of the pic.

The right panel has layers and layers . . . again with the brown, copper and green inks (at that time using the ColorBox tool . . . now we've upgraded to the CS® Ink Applicators, right?) Then again with the mini leaf stamps copper embossed on the very top of it all. The paper looks green there, but it started out ivory like the base sheet. They're all elevated with foam dots.

Took it to the frame guy . . . he said I should tote it to Door County (that's up north, quaint, tourist country here in Wisconsin) and sell it for $400. $400? Seriously? I just wanted to play with stamps on the ping-pong table!

Didn't sell it. Won't sell it. It's beautifully framed and hanging in my bathroom . . . right above the toilet, which I hate cleaning. Full circle aren't we? (See, I told you there was a connection!)

Leaf Stamp Art in Bathroom

Actually, the real connection comes with our killer Comfort Zone UM sheets with leaf stamps on them . . . they inspired me to offer up my little nugget of a leafy stamp wall art story. I thought it might give you a little kick if you ever had an inkling to make leafy wall art yourself.

Club Scrap, Club ScrapJR, and Club Stamp UM sheets . . .

I've got other homey little nuggets too . . . another time though . . . it's dark in here at CSHQ. Everybody's gone and I gotta go home and feed my little white dog.

Hugs to all! D

Those leaves are from several retreat UMs gone by, I remember them being the first UMs I ever bought! I saw the leaves and had to have them. They started it all in the Club Scrap UM world for me heheee! Love your frame.

Just gorgeous! Nice to have the awesome feedback from the framer, even though we know your work is priceless. This piece is reminiscent of the project you did with us at Retreat -- and that, too, is a gorgeous work of art! Oh. And you can come visit us and our BIG white dogs any time!

I've always loved that piece of art. The boys in your life probably get to enjoy it even more than the girls do. I wish my windows were in a warmer climate!
