March 24th, here I go again adding to this Sonoma blog!!! Here is my done up Club Stamp Project, the Nook Book..........

It's really a fun project, it looks like a book when closed, but when you open it, there is a slider on the side of the faux pages and also on the top. These sliders can be mini scrapbook pages, hold your favorite quotes, mini pieces of art, anything you want. After you pull the sliders out, it reveals a 1/2" deep nook that can be collaged in and decorated with dimensional things.

Here it is closed, the stacked matte board frames look like inside book pages.

after the top slider pc is slid out ....

The slider pcs can be decorated on both sides, here is the photo of the flip side of the same top slider.
After sliding out the top slider pc. to reveal the nook inside...

Years ago, I would have never guessed that I could have so much fun with matte board and really nice card stock!! Hope all you Club Stampers enjoy this project as much as I do. I also happen to know that in the near future CS will have a 'How To' video on this project in the cinema (so you can take even a closer look...at the nook..in this book).
March 23rd, 2010 - the month is just flyin' by and the Club Stamp kit has already shipped! So I'm wanting to share some of the fun I had with the new stamps. Here is a fun open door card created with the Club Stamp Door Stamp, it's surrounded with other stamp images from the UM sheet.

and what's behind the open door...

Here is the insides of another we made for the Stamp Rap...

March 17,2010 As we move further into March, I'm adding to my Sonoma blog...the Jr Kit just shipped, can't wait until Club Stamp time rolls around, but for now adding a greeting card made with the Junior Vine Border stamp.
March 3, 2010

It's just a couple days into March and the dear CS members are just receiving their Sonoma kits, not to mention the Sonoma goodies just went online in GHM today!! We had such a fun pre-March scurry here at CS to make up a couple projects using the brand new collection. I enjoyed creating these little projects for the Scrap Rap so why not do a March/Sonoma themed blog. The first Sonoma project I did was the above gate card, just had to get out the watercolor pencils to color in the CS Grapevine Wood Mounted Stamp, and I liked it so much I had to do two and make a gate card at of it.
Did you see the cute Greeting Stamp yet? Couldn't resist making a little paper flower from the cream text weight paper to go next to the sweet sediment.

Next came all the Grape Stencil fun....

...the most common way to use the stencils, ink applied with the Colorbox foam tip stylus tool. I added glitter glue to give the grapes more detail. The wood mount Art Nouveau stamp worked well as my card greeting, and one of my favorite quotes from the B&B Unmounted images fit nicely above the cluster of grapes.
Another stenciled card, but this one will popout at ya.....

......stenciled the image 4 times, cut out center areas of the grape cluster and attached with foam squares. Tricia and I had a "bunch" of fun creating this one while doing the stencil article for the Sonoma Rap.
Couldn't leave all the stencil techniques for cards only.....

.....on the bottom right of this 12x12 is a stenciled piece taken from the fun Tricia had while we were shooting the stencil article, it's the negative image of the stencil achieved by using watercolor crayons on the water misted stencil, then setting the colored side of the stencil onto the paper. Neat huh? For way better details, check out the Sonoma Scrap Rap!
By the time the prior projects were created, more paper came in and I did this 8.5 x11. Love the colors with my daughters dance leotard, oh and the Thin Phrase Cutapart strips and the waxed linen with beads stitched in, both from the Embellishment Pack.

Then last but not certainly not least, the Book-In-A-Box project. Love how fun and easy it is!!!! I happen to have a couple pictures of Tricia's decorated project handy that we did for the Scrap, it's soooo cute I just gotta show you.
The box:

and, the inside...

Check out how cool the inside of the box is decorated...

After the precut matte board pcs are put together, this is how the board book opens....

My decorated project below has a little different look because of painting some pcs with acrylic and wrapping other pcs with old dictionary pages not included in the Sonoma kit...it was just fun.

and this is how my board book opens, the way I decorated it anyway....

and back into the box...

Also the corduroy brads in the Sonoma CS kit worked so nicely for decorating this little project and adding feet to the box. Just love this little project, so hope you do too!!!
O.K. I'll finally stop rambling on about our new Sonoma CS Kit!! Just couldn't contain my excitement very well apparently.
Thanks for looking and enjoy that Sonoma kit!

... Okay, gorgeous as always Kay, but I have to add that I'm sitting here giggling. There is something that just tickles my funny bone when I think about how sweet you are and see your beautiful work and your gorgeous daughter with the flowers such and the bottom of the first box has the line "A note about spitting" That right there is why I think you're amazing. All that talent and every so often you toss in a hysterical zinger too. Love it! |

... And thanks so much for adding the project today Kay!! WOW this is just an amazing project! I think I may need to do a little early Christmas shopping! Those will make more fantastic presents! It is so reminiscent of the Slider Frame project but with such an elegant touch making it look like a book! You are amazing! |
