It's been a horrid week for me, so intense and frustrating. I fought "The System" all week long. Ended up on the news 3 times and even had my photo on the front page of the Press lol. For my part I won my battle. Others, I'm sure were not so lucky. The war is still on, and I'm still in the thick of it, but when that battle was won, after so much intensity and stress, I couldn't stop the tears. I hope I never feel like that again.
So...how does one reward oneself after all that? By 2 days of play in one's studio of course! I did a bit more rearranging and sorted through the awesome packets of treasure from Kay's desk. (you really should have grabbed those while the grabbing was good folks!) and then decided that I'm going to work my way through all of the CStamp projects and extra 'Treat projects I've bought but not completed. I'm embarassed to say there are many. So, away I went.
Up first was that wonderful kaleidoscope from Mirror Mirror. I can't believe I didn't rush right to my room and put this together seconds after it arrived at my house. It wasn't difficult and it's such fun and I LOVE kaleidoscopes and have since I was a child. I stuck with the Mirror Mirror papers but used the stencil from Written Word and the stamp from Be Still to decorate it. I spritzed the stencil with Memory mists. That paper soaks up the spray so nicely. It soaks and spreads but just a bit so the image softens ever so slightly. LOVE THAT!!!

Today I brought the Ampersand from Bridges out. I had fun with the Ivory Elegance swirl stamps and the Rhapsody distressed flower stamp on the kraft tissue and then ripped it all up. I spritzed the wood with Memory Mist so that if any part remained uncovered it would still look finished and decided rather than adhesive I'd use bees wax to attach everything to it. FUN FUN FUN!!! I sooo love bees wax, it's easy to play with and smells so nice too! This one has little additions from Extra Extra, Haberdashery, Kay's treasure packs and my stash added to the toys that were included with the project in the Bridges kit.

I've decided play is a good thing. I'm tired still from lack of sleep and being so tense all week, but I feel much more relaxed after time spent in my studio and I think I'm ready to face the next week. Bring it on!

... Lori, your projects turned out wonderful. Isn't your ampersand part of the cover artwork on the site this week?! Congrats! Looks like you had fun creating. I need to dig out my projects from retreat and get them all finished, too... Your projects are beautiful, my friend! Glad you had some down time to yourself. |
