I am always looking for fun ways to spruce up ordinary objects. I was at a Craft Store last weekend, and found the large jar candles on sale. As I was playing with them, trying to figure out what yummy scent to get my Grandmother, it hit me... these candles could be SO MUCH more! I bought the white linen smell candles because they were WHITE. White to me represents fresh fallen snow, or part of a candy cane. You could coordinate any color really.
So how do you make these beautiful creations? Actually, its pretty simple! Pick up some 12x12 Translucent paper in the GHM Department, trim the candle wrap strip to 3.5x12. Stamp the peppermint images from the JOYFUL Unmounted Borders & Backgrounds with CS Ruby Ink, adding Glitter Glue to make the candy sparkle. Repeat with the Snowflake candle, images can be found on the same JOYFUL sheet, stamping with the CS Lagoon Ink. I added snowflake confetti with glue dots to make the snowflakes jump out, and a dash of glitter glue to the stamped snowflakes.
Once the strips have dried from the glitter glue, I flattened them out as much as possible. I adhered clear glue strips to the back, and attached the wrap to the candles. It will wrap almost all the way around, leaving about .5" gap left open. I decided you can trim a piece of translucent to hide this, or cover with a picture, seen below.

As you can see, when you matte the picture, it doesn't want to "wrap" as well as the other candle picture, which I matted with text paper. I highly recommend matting to text paper for easier wrapping to the candle. I sprinkled in confetti inside the top of the snowflake candle, and crushed up peppermint to the inside of the red and white candle. Add a matching ribbon, and voila, a Chirstmas present with that personal touch!
Happy Crafting!

Very cool...I'll be stealing this idea and running with it!
