I know I'm Rambling...

Who? You Lori?  Yes, me, I know I do that sometimes. Not you. Yess me....

Anyway, I just wanna gush a bit today about the Cinema.

See we all know there's great material there to share ideas for cards, and for when we ALSB or ALCM and most awesome workshops with some incredible instruction on techniques and projects.  That pretty much goes without saying.

But for me, it's so much much more.

My 'BFF' Jac doesn't live here anymore.  Oh sure we 'chat' all the time, online mostly since neither of us is really a 'phone call' kinda gal, but we seldom see each other these days.  Now she's done a couple of videos in the Cinema and I can 'see' her, even yak at her, tease her and what not. And the best part is she doesn't jab back!

I met Tricia through video.  If I fire up the 'way back' machine, we'll find me watching Carol Duvall's shows and DIY Scrapbooking.  Tricia was my favorite because she was 'real'.  Not all gushy, sugary sweet and phony.  I like Carol D for that reason too.  To discover that she really was that warm and real in person too was just the coolest.

Meeting Dinah came with my first 'Treat.  I begged Jac to come along and she did, cuz that's what we do, get eachother hooked on things. And at that first dinner I didn't care where we sat as long as I could see what was going on at the front of the room.  Whoa, big empty table right up front.  Cool!  Next thing ya know, we two 'Treat virgins are hangin with the Who's Who of Club Scrap!  And I got to meet Dinah.  That was a 'Treat in itself.  Smart, funny, kind, beautiful, willing to get silly, but always in control (wink) I found myself wishing back then that she were more visible beyond the Scrap Raps. Now with the Community and especially the Cinema, she is!

Zwick is a hoot. No question what's on her mind from what I can tell.  You wanna know what she thinks, just ask.  Heck, she'll probably tell you even if you don't really want to know lol.  Just straight forward, no nonsense.  Terri's wit is so quick you gotta keep up even when you're crying from laughing.

OMG Kay, I get a kick out of teasing her about having to make an OCAM card for her.  "the goddess of crafts!" At the time that happened, all I knew was that it was her name used in tandem with some of the most incredible projects I'd ever seen in that Scrap Rap thingie.  That card HAD to be something new and complicated for me or goodness knows I'd be embarassing myself.  But no, she's so sweet and unassuming and SHE gets embarassed when you gush over what she makes, (shyeah right! no really she does!) Imagine me sitting at a table with Kay while she's making ATCs and when she finishes she asks ME if that's good enough!  WHAT???  I'd be thrilled with just the creativity in her little finger and she's so sweet she'd probably give it to me if she could.

I asked Jac one day what Nikki does at the Clubhouse, I mean 'officially'.  The couple of times I've been there I've seen her bouncing all over the place, constantly moving.  I watch a lot.  Believe it or not I can get pretty quiet and don't always talk much in person, just try to stay out of the way, but I'm watching and listening all the time, especially in less familiar situations.  I'd not been able to pinpoint Nikki's real role.  Jac's answer?  Nikki does whatever anyone tells her needs to be done.  Yup, that makes sense.  She's one busy gal that's for sure.  Nikki won my heart at my first 'Treat too. I was so tired at that first morning class because as 'Treat veterans know the one thing they don't leave time for on the itenerary is sleep.  She asked me how I was doing and I think I said something like "I'd LOVE a trip to Starbucks right now"  Next thing you know she (and Jill) are making a Starbucks run and I've got my infusion of caffiene.  I WUV Nikki!

Karen is another fav. Well, they're all favs but you know how there are some folks you can sit and chat with for the first time really and it feels like you've known them for years?  Yup.  Last October at 'Treat I had more solo time as Jac was working.  I got a chance to chat with Karen a bit after one of the workshops she led.  What a treat.

Rita too.  Instant comfort zone there.  Something tells me that Rita, while she can be all biz, could also be the pal you get into trouble with.  I like that about her!

And Amy.  Oh WOW!  I generally don't ALSB, but Amy is genius at getting those layouts lookin' FINE!  Another gal I just know would be right in the thick of things if fun type trouble was brewing.  (Just a hunch) she's warm and wonderful, and yes Amy I got that little hello note you put on the Pizza Box last month.  Even hubby thought that was cool.

Brenda just makes me smile.  I kind of see her as the numbers cruncher in CS land and she shoots every image I've ever had of 'bean counters' no matter how well founded those images might have been, right out of the water.  I can see the analytical side but she's so much more than that.

I know I've missed folks, and there are more that I could gush about, Vickie, OMG a REAL PERSON answers when you call CS!  and Deb and Beth and Nathan and Kristen, and and and and...I haven't been blessed to get to know you all quite as well....yet! lol.

So where am I going with this?  Full circle back to the Cinema here in the Club Scrap Community.  I LOVE that I see my friends when I watch those videos.  I see their REAL personalities come shining through as they take me on a journey through projects, cards, layouts and whatever else they dream up.  I'm thrilled that there are little glitches that let me see who they really are and that it's not all so scripted and mechanical that it could be anyone up there doing it.  Those are my Club Scrap pals up there on my puter screen and we're crafting together, or getting silly (the CIAB or Pizza Box vids) and they're talking TO me not AT me and with the magic of the Cinema I can 'visit' with them whenever I want to.

So, keep on being you.  Those words you say when you get nervous...keep saying them. Those little nervous hand motions you make, keep making them.  I love it when I see you look over at Singer cuz he's the only one in the room to 'talk to' while you're filming and then realize whoops, can't do that.  It keeps you real while you're on camera and shares YOU with us, and I think it's so cool that you're letting us all in on who you are and that you're just folks sharing your gifts with us.  I for one, don't want to lose that connection.

Okay, ya got Terri and Kay to join in....Rita?  Amy?

Thanks for the videos.  I love them on so many levels.

Boy Lori, You know just the right things to say. Funny how we are alike with watching Carol Duvall and the other shows seeing Tricia on. That is exactly me!! I can't believe you are quiet in person. Someday we will meet and I will be able to talk to you in personsmilies/wink.gif I have always looked at the CS staffers as such untouchables (like ROCK STARS) of the crafting industry, but it is so nice to know thru your words, that they are just like us!! Thanks for sharingsmilies/smiley.gif

And here's the deal about those rock stars~Not once have I ever felt like they don't know me or don't care. Tricia sat down with us for a few minutes one day on the cruise and we just chatted and the whole time you know she's listening and she cares. They're all real people who care about us and want to see us happy. I had a problem with a shipment a couple of months ago and I shot off an email and Rita responds quick as a flash, I've got my problem resolved and even though it's by email, I can tell it's with a smile. Now that's customer service! I don't think I've said it yet today~~I love this club! smilies/kiss.gif

It was wonderful to find this club 7 years ago. Watching it evolve. But the videos are the clincher. Traveling to retreats is difficult, especially when it might disturb Solly's routine. Being able to participate on line, huzzah!!!! To get instructions and see demonstrations helps me explore new techniques, yeah I see them in a couple of the magazines I get, but CS videos and the old TV weekly spots got me to use them. I get to pause when something goes amiss or I get distracted, or it's time to get something else done. And to make books, my daughter's eye just lit up when I gave her one filled with pictures from Iraq and all her miscellaneous shots. Then Summer Camp well I actually filled up two scrapbooks, and had a great time. DH would step in the office to see what I was up to and occasionally make suggestions. He'll pull out the books to show them off when folks stop by. I agree I love this club. Here's to another 10 years.
The videos are the clincher otherwise I'd just be a hoarder of scrap papers. They make is seem so doable, and make me want to give it a try. And the folks who "star" in them, well gotta love them and look forward to seeing more.
