Handmade Sticker Tape

After reading Donna Lee's and JulieH's posts about creating their own stamped and colored papers, similar to the collections Kay Williamson created for a retreat a few years ago, my mind was buzzing with ideas. Then, yesterday afternoon while reading a Scrap-n-Stamp Arts magazine during my kiddos' taekwondo practice, I read an article entitle The Frugal Crafter. It showcased ideas on how to make popular products out of items you may already have in your stash.

One idea was making your own washi/sticker tape out of sticker paper. It didn't require any masking skills like the papers Julie and Donna Lee were making, so it seemed like it would be quick to create. And it was!

First I trimmed an 8.5x11 piece of solid sticker paper (available by Avery at your local office supply) into 1/2" widths. Then I stamped them with a variety of vintage-looking images from Club Scrap (see the picture) in CS India Ink. Next, I sponged ink in various combinations onto the paper. I left a few black and white, but I might still add some "old paper" color to them to vintage them up. I kind of like the straight black and white.

Now I need to make a project with these!

Way to go Pam! I used sticker paper for my sheets. That paper takes the inks so well!
I think I like the b&w one the best too. smilies/smiley.gif

These are so cool, Pam. I must make some. So cool to coordinate them with a particular layout theme, too. Love it.

what a great idea Pam! Thanks for the instructions too, I like your idea of keeping some plain until you can color them up for a specific project. Now I want some sticker paper - and I just got a $10 off coupon for Office Depot

you can also buy plain bandage tape in the First Aid aisle that has the same texture as the Tim Holtz tissue tape. Lay it out on a craft mat and stamp and you're good to go!
