2010: Vision 500. Lots of talk about it in the Forum, Dinah's classy cinema video, then another of her Conference Calls about becoming a Crafter. Several reminders about that - and I suckered for it! Then getting more detailed info emailed by Karen. Hmm..... Should I take this to 'the next level' and become a crafter?
My health has stabilized, and though I have part-time work and full-time life filling my days, I realized I probably did have some extra time for this. And thanks to Club Scrap getting better and better and having a stupendous year in 2009 with incredibly beautiful kits - my financial situation was now in crisis! I either had to cut way back on my CS spending or find a way to subsidize this growing addiction! No way was I able to cut back. I tried, but let's face it - I am hopelessly addicted and totally loving this stuff!
So - just YESTERDAY! I bit the bullet. After several days of praying for wisdom and guidance as to what to do, and after emailing Karen and talking with her on the phone, and emailing a bunch of you! I realized this could work for me.
I'm what the industry calls a 'hobbyist' and I'm doing this mainly to support my habit. But honestly, it is also quite a 'high' to share the love of CS with others and see them turn on to it. Like my daughter and my sister! So fun to see that happen and to share the joy of it all with them.
I've been in Christian ministry most my adult life and sensing a call of God to serve others in particular ways is important to me. I see this very much as serving others. Haven't you all felt well 'served' and loved by Tricia, Dinah, Karen, Rita and the rest? Leaving a legacy, telling a story, having a hobby that has meaning and purpose and serves others is very fulfilling. And I hope it will be even more fulfilling to help others find meaning and purpose and joy in their hobbies. What a privilege.
