one of the coolest things about working at Club Scrap is the ability to talk them into letting me revisit an 'oldie but goodie' just because i wanna.
[keep reading, i promise, there are pictures.]
i love Club Scrap's stitch bound journal. it's easy, and it's quick. but better than that, it's feels like a real book when you hold it. i love the way it opens all the way up, and lays flat. that's one of my big things when it comes to books, to be able to open them and leave them open. (to my favorite page, not that i'd ever be 'showing off' or anything....)
so, anyway, back to the point. i wanted to make a book for my ultra cool nephew who shall remain nameless, (ok? ben, is that alright?). and i ran across a stash of the 'oldies' in ghm!. and i said, 'hey now, this would be the perfect format. but....'
that's how it always starts. "but...."
none of the color combos where quit right for what i was needing. football. state championship winner football. like classy cool manly football colors. dark and mysterious.
so i whined until they let me make up a limited edition. i think you're gonna love it.
but as always, quantities are limited. don't forget, however, that there are also some sweet and whimsical ones left from the last 'go 'round'. (i also got them to put them on sale. go me!)
so here it is, the 'Collegiate' collection.

ahh, the beautiful papers from Haberdashery. the instructions included with the 'Collegiate' edition are the same basic instructions used for all the versions. the only thing that i did a little differently is that i placed the wine color at the spine edges and then fitted the blue paper right up against it. (then continued with wrapping the paper around the cover board as usual) to mimic the contrasting book corner look, i simply cut triangles out of the left over pcs of wine and used book binding glue to adhere them. they are only on the outside of the front cover, and do not wrap in any way. purely decorative.
some detail shots...

the book ended up being more of a horizontal...no problem. one 4x6 and a recurring element per page, simple, quick and consistant. i also wanted to leave blank pages to put game programs, tickets and other stuff on.

whoops, so much for the 'remaining nameless' part.... Ben Hickman, #41 for the Totino Grace Eagles.....(rocks!)
alrighty, that's all i have for now....back out to the shelves of ghm!.....hmmmmm, what treasure shall i find next..........
ttfn, zwick

Great book! And yes, of course I had to buy one! "Oh, my enabler has a first name, it's T-E-R-R-I..."
