Weekly Chronicles Week Eight: "My Pet"

Posted by: SallyD in Untagged  on

I've had a lot of pets over the years: dogs, a cat, birds, fish, a hamster or two - but currently, our home is a pet-free zone. I'm of the belief that pet ownership is a lot like parenting. It's all well and good when you see the cute little babies, but the real experience requires work and commitment and dedication, love, sacrifice and a good deal of time and attention. At this point in our

Weekly Chronicles Week Seven: "My Valentine"

Posted by: SallyD in Untagged  on

How convenient that this week's challenge is something I wanted to be sure to include in my Gratitude Journal: by darling husband, Karl, for whom I am eternally, blissfully grateful.

We met in college, were friends first, then - well, we became Valentines. Faced with no money and February 14th  looming, I cut a silly cartoon out of the Sunday paper and slapped it on construction paper. I scrawled

Weekly Chronicles Week Six: "Friendship"

Posted by: SallyD in Untagged  on

Well, now, that's an easy one! My friends ROCK!

It's unusual to get a photo of my two besties together, but I actually found one from last year so I used that:

That's me on the left, my pal Linda in the middle, my best friend Leah on the right.  I admit we wouldn't win any contests for glamour - we were about two-thirds through an all-day crop - but I wanted a picture anyway because it's hard to

Weekly Chronicles Week Five: "A Different Point of View"

Posted by: SallyD in Untagged  on

I had to think about this one a little; there were several ways to approach the subject of our challenge prompt. Following my theme of "Gratitude" I decided to document a time when a traumatic event changed my perspective on life and gave me a completely different point of view. I am certainly grateful for that!

In 1981 we moved from New York to Pennsylvania, a relocation prompted not by

Weekly Chronicles 2012 Week Four: "My Favorite Room"

Posted by: SallyD in Untagged  on

Bet you thought it was the scrapping studio, right? Well, I spend a lot of time there and I do love all the goodies but without a doubt, this is my favorite room:

A few years ago after  visiting  Julia Child's kitchen at the Smithsonian, inspiration whacked me over the head: if Julia could make her kitchen fit a tall woman, I could make mine fit a short woman who should have been born in 1935,

Weekly Chronicles 2012 Week Three: "Through My Window"

Posted by: SallyD in Untagged  on

Well, if you looked out my windows right now you'd just see dirt and dormant plants. Not too picturesque, certainly.  If only it was May...

...but it's January, and I'm a woman on a mission: find something for which I am grateful, and tie it to this theme. Unfinished patio project? Ummm... no. I will be grateful for the patio stones when they arrive in the spring, however.  Blank wall of house

Farley, did it have to be a rosette challenge? I love those little stinkers, so I had to play along; but one drawback: they're little. My Tim Holtz die makes 2" rosettes. IMHO it was time to make a BIG rosette and a link shared on the challenge thread was all the incentive I needed to try. Here's the result:

There were a few tricky parts in the construction of Big Mama Rosette so I thought I'd

Weekly Chronicles 2012 Week Two: "Reflection"

Posted by: SallyD in Untagged  on

Seems to me a Gratitude Journal is all about reflection, so I shouldn't have had a tough time with this challenge topic, but I admit I foundered for a while. And then, I looked up from the laptop and saw this:

My beloved Victorian gazing ball. It doesn't get more reflective than that! I bought it 20 years ago when they came back into fashion; as a child I was fascinated by one in a neighbor's

Weekly Chronicles 2012 Week One - "Resolution"

Posted by: SallyD in Untagged  on

The challenge prompt for week one was "Resolution". Well, I don't make New Years Resolutions - I never keep them anyway - but in mulling the subject over and looking for a way to tie this into my Gratitude Journal, I remembered The Ultimate Resolution: our 10-year plan to get out of debt.

In 2004, after a sudden job loss ruined our finances, we were desperate to regain control. The 10-year plan

Weekly Chronicles 2012

So, my ongoing love of all things Club Scrap has a new face: The Weekly Chronicles. A simple concept, but with so much potential: scrap one page a week and share it.

 I can do that!

Everyone here knows me as the PSL addict, the GHM stalker, the dreamer of a trip to CS Retreat one of these days... but there's a lot more to me and you'll learn some of it this year, through the WC. In my pages I plan
